It’s time to start another season in charge of Vitória on FM19. The first two have been relatively successful so far without any silverware being won. Consecutive 3rd place finishes in the league in addition to a few domestic cup semi finals and a jaunt into the knockout phase of the Europa League last season.
This season, it’s vital to finish 3rd in the league again, as it now means passage into the Champions League qualifying rounds. The potential income and increased reputation this would bring the club would be huge. How would we cope?
I wanted to equal or better my first season in charge at the club and we’ve done it. A second consecutive 3rd place finish gives us a passage straight into the Europa League group stage again next season. Delighted!

Our form across the last three months drastically picked up with the shift to the new tactical approach. Could we maintain that over the course of the rest of the season though? Have a read on to find out how we did in my second season in charge of Vitória on FM19. Continue reading
Season two didn’t start well, but things were starting to look up. A revamped tactical approach had seen form begin to pick up and a run of results put together towards the end of the last post. So that’s the end of my first season in charge of Vitória on FM19. I can’t complain at all, my aim of qualifying for the Europa League was achieved as we finished 3rd in the Premeira Liga behind champions Porto and runners up Benfica.
Here’s how the season stacked up stats-wise and generally how the club has progressed so far. Continue reading
The tail end of the season is here. My Vitória side goes in to the last few months sitting in 3rd spot. There’s no hope of a late title challenge, but there’s still plenty of work to do to seal a top five spot to make sure European football comes to Guimarães next season. Continue reading
I’m so glad January is over. What an absolutely abysmal month it was for us. It included a 3-1 league defeat against our rivals and being knocked out of both domestic cup competitions, falling short against Nacional in the Taca de Portugal 6th round (quarter final) and the semi final of the Taca da Liga against Porto.
This post has a tactical tweak, more player signings and our best month of the season so far. What a treat. Read on! Continue reading
